A unique experience

Exquisite cuisine 160 metres beneath the earth’s surface – Štajgerjeva južna, prepared by award-winning master chefs – Descent in the oldest lift and a journey on the underground train

Visit Slovenia to experience its mining and gastronomic excellence. Experience them with all of your senses.

At the Slovenian Coal Mining Museum, a guide will be available to equip you with a torch and a helmet. Following the ‘jump over the leather apron’ ritual, the miners’ greeting from the kitchen and the miners’ salutation ‘Good luck’, you are lowered by Slovenia’s oldest lift into a drift on one of the world’s thickest coal seams. Discover the most attractive subterranean sites, which, in a surprising manner, recount the story of mining.

Enter the deepest dining hall in Europe, located no less than 160 metres below the Earth’s surface. Here, the waiters and master chefs treat you to innovative dishes inspired by local ingredients and the mining tradition. The “Štajgerjeva južna” is complemented by a selection of wines and musical entertainment.

After the culinary experience, an exhilarating ride on the underground train awaits you, followed by a lift back to the surface and entry into the miners’ black cloakroom. A glass of a surprise drink accompanies the discussion of impressions, while the surprise keepsake enriches you, enabling you to recall the experiences alongside others.

• meeting your guide in front of the Coal Mining Museum, a welcome drink and a miner’s greeting from the kitchen;
• descent into the mine via Slovenia’s oldest operational lift; a tour of the most attractive subterranean sites;
• admission to the deepest dining room in Slovenia and a four-course dinner at Štajgerjeva južna, accompanied by fine wines and musical entertainment;
• journey by underground train;
• a tour of the miners’ black cloakroom, a surprise drink and a surprise souvenir.
